A Local Falcon alternative for a flat weekly Google Maps grid
The best Local Falcon alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you want the same geo-grid picture of your Google Maps rank but would rather pay one flat price per keyword and have the scan run every week without thinking about credits, Local Rank Tracker is built for exactly that. If you use Local Falcon for its AI search tracking, Apple Maps, its API or white-label client reports, you should probably stay where you are. This page lays out both sides, with Local Falcon’s own figures as published on its site in September 2026.
It is written for a small business owner, or a freelancer looking after a few local clients, who has seen a Local Falcon heat map and is asking whether a simpler tool does the part they actually use.
The short verdict
- Stay with Local Falcon if you track many keywords, scan large grids, want AI visibility tracking alongside the map pack, or sell reports to clients.
- Switch to a flat weekly grid if you track a handful of keywords for one or a few listings, you want the bill to be the same every month, and you mainly need to know where you rank and who beats you.
Neither is a cheaper version of the other. They are priced for different amounts of scanning.
What Local Falcon is today
Local Falcon has grown well past a map rank checker. Its home page, read in September 2026, describes the product like this:
Local Falcon’s local rank tracking and local AI search visibility tracking provides the data needed to improve brand visibility across generative AI answer engines and traditional local search results.
Alongside the geo-grid scans it lists tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, an AI analysis layer it calls Falcon AI, an agent that can act on a Google Business Profile, a profile-change monitor called Falcon Guard, review analysis reports, campaigns that group locations, a Looker Studio integration and an API. That is a lot of product, and for an agency that uses most of it, it is good value.
What Local Falcon costs, as of September 2026
Local Falcon sells credits. Its pricing page defines a credit as one point on the grid during a scan, so a 7x7 scan uses 49 credits. The published packages:
| Package | Monthly price | Credits per month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $24.99 | 7,500 |
| Basic | $49.99 | 15,150 |
| Pro | $99.99 | 31,250 |
| Premium | $199.99 | 63,150 |
A new account gets 100 free credits. Unused package credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, per the same page. Falcon AI reports draw on the same balance. We walked through how many keywords each package really covers in Local Falcon pricing in 2026; the short version is that Starter covers roughly 35 keywords scanned weekly on a 7x7 grid for one listing.
That is a lot of scanning for the money. The catch is not the price. It is that you have to plan the credits: grid size, number of keywords, how often you scan, whether you add AI reports, and whether you scan competitors too all come out of one pot that empties at the end of the month.
Local Falcon alternative: how Local Rank Tracker compares
| Local Falcon | Local Rank Tracker | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay for | Credits, one per grid point | 20 credits per keyword per month |
| Entry price | $24.99 a month | $39 a month (10 keywords) |
| Free start | 100 credits | 100 credits, enough for 5 keywords for a month |
| Grid sizes | Priced per point, so bigger costs more | 3x3, 5x5 or 7x7, same price |
| Scan schedule | Scheduled or on demand, credits permitting | Every 7 days, automatic |
| Competitors | Competitor reports | The #1 business at each grid point |
| Search engines covered | Google, Apple Maps, AI answer engines | Google Maps |
| AI analysis and agent | Falcon AI, Falcon Agent | No |
| API, white-label reports | Yes | No |
| Review alerts in the same account | Review analysis reports | Yes, via Review Radar |
Local Rank Tracker figures are from its pricing page today. The grid size does not change our price: a 7x7 grid costs the same 20 credits a month as a 3x3, because you pay per keyword rather than per point.
When Local Falcon is the better fit
Be honest with yourself about which of these you rely on. If any of them is the reason you bought Local Falcon, stay:
- You track dozens of keywords or many locations. At that volume Local Falcon’s credits work out cheaper per keyword than a flat price, as its own pricing table shows.
- You care about AI search. Tracking how ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews describe a business is a different job, and Local Rank Tracker does not do it.
- You need Apple Maps or an API. Local Falcon covers both. We only scan Google Maps and have no public API.
- You sell reporting to clients. White-label reports and a Looker Studio connection are agency features we do not offer.
When a flat weekly grid fits better
Local Rank Tracker is deliberately narrow. It fits when:
- You have a few keywords that matter. “Emergency plumber”, “dentist”, “coffee shop”: the handful of searches that actually bring in customers.
- You want the same bill every month. Twenty credits per keyword, whatever the grid size. Nothing expires mid-plan because you picked a bigger grid.
- You would rather not remember to scan. The grid refreshes every seven days on its own. If a scan cannot measure enough of the grid, it says so, retries within a day, and keeps showing the last good grid labelled with its date. A gap never reads as a ranking.
- You want to see who owns which part of town. Every square shows your position (green in the top 3, amber from 4 to 10, red past 10 or outside the top 20), and pointing at a square shows the business at #1 there.
- You also watch Google reviews. The same account runs Review Radar, which alerts you the day a negative review goes unanswered. Both draw on one credit balance, which is handy because rankings and reviews tend to move together.
What each grid tells you
The practical output of a geo-grid tool is three answers, and Local Rank Tracker gives exactly those on every scan:
| Question | What you see |
|---|---|
| Where do I rank? | Your position at every grid point |
| How good is that overall? | Your average rank where you appear, and the share of the grid where you are in the top 3 |
| Who is beating me? | The #1 business at each point |
Grids can reach 0.5, 1, 2, 5 or 10 miles from your listing, so the same tool suits a café that serves a few blocks and a plumber covering a whole metro area.
How to switch from Local Falcon
- List the keywords you actually check. Open your recent Local Falcon scans and write down the searches you look at every week. For many single-location businesses it is a short list.
- Note your grid size and radius. Pick the closest match: 3x3, 5x5 or 7x7, and a radius from 0.5 to 10 miles.
- Create a free account. No card is needed, and the 100 starting credits cover five keywords for their first month.
- Find your business and add the keywords. Search by name and city, pick your Google listing, then add each search the way a customer types it. Leave out “near me”, because every grid point already searches as someone standing there.
- Keep Local Falcon running for one cycle. Compare a week of both before you cancel anything, and let your remaining Local Falcon credits run out rather than waste them.

The bottom line
Local Falcon is a broad local and AI visibility platform, priced by the grid point, and it is excellent value for anyone scanning at volume. If what you actually use is a weekly Google Maps grid for a few keywords, a flat per-keyword price is simpler to budget and runs without you. Track your first keyword and compare the grid with the one you already have.
